East Barnby: The week in pictures

East Barnby Body Boarding

So the dawn broke on our final day at East Barnby. We donned our wet suits and headed off to Sandsend for a morning of body boarding before heading back to Scarborough.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Gill, Lucy, Tim and all the staff at East Barnby.  Also a massive thank you to Mrs Bentley for organising the week and all of the other staff from Thomas Hinderwell who made it possible.

Finally, thank you to every one of the children who were part of the week.  It has be an amazing week and you should all be so, so proud of yourselves.

East Barnby Campfire

So, as our time at East Barnby draws to a close, we talked about the people we were proud of and our favourite moments whilst we toasted marshmallows and sang songs.  Daniel and Mrs Bentley had an interesting new look too (see this post to find out why).

After supper we said an emotional goodbye to Miss Dixon (who we'll see tomorrow anyway!).  Tomorrow we are body boarding in the morning before heading back to school. Stay tuned for Mrs Lawton's new 'wet suit and high vis jacket combo' look.

East Barnby Skiing and Kayaking

Today the groups have been skiing and kayaking.  Kai has been dubbed 'King of the slopes' with his amazing slalom skills!  We're about to enjoy a bonfire and Mrs Cottle and Miss Dixon have joined us for campfire songs.  We're also looking forward to Mrs Bentley and Daniel's new look.

East Barnby Sledging

This evening, our activity was sledging.  It was awesome.  Mrs Bentley (supported by Dan) and Mrs Lawton (supported by Tyler) had a sledge-off.  Mrs Bentley (and Dan) lost, so Elisha and Jake R will be giving them a make-over ready for tea tomorrow night.  We'll make sure we get pictures on here!

East Barnby Climbing

Today we went rock climbing.  We learnt how to belay the ropes and we had to work as a team to keep our friends safe.

East Barnby Canoeing

Today we canoed from Ruswarp to Whitby Harbour.  We paddled our canoes and learnt how the steer the boats.  It took a great deal of team work to ensure the canoe stayed on course and every member of the crew has their own, vital role to play.  We stopped on an island for lunch, went over a weir and down rapids.
